College preparatory students must be ethnic minorities. Preparatory students in the enrollment of ordinary colleges and universities refer to ordinary colleges or universities for nationalities designated by the state. Candidates who meet certain requirements from the national college entrance examination in that year will be selected on a voluntary basis if their scores are lower than a certain level.
Candidates who have studied in ethnic colleges or ordinary colleges for one year will be promoted to undergraduate or junior college directly after passing the examination. Colleges and universities organize their own preparatory graduation exams to assign majors.

Admission requirements for ethnic preparatory classes: ethnic minority candidates or Han candidates who meet the admission requirements of ordinary colleges and universities, love their hometown and are determined to contribute to the construction of their hometown, counties that implement the frontier policy, poverty-stricken counties determined by the provincial people's government, ethnic minority autonomous counties, rural hukou determined by the administrative office and the state people's government.
Ethnic minority candidates and Han candidates whose fathers (or mothers) work in units below the township level in the above-mentioned areas may apply for preparatory classes for ethnic minorities in ordinary colleges and universities.
