The Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics of Xi Jiaotong University is a national key discipline of "Pattern Recognition and Intelligent System". It recruits doctoral students according to the first-class discipline of control science and engineering, and is a part of the postdoctoral mobile station of automation discipline. The Institute is a full-time scientific research institution with more than 90 teachers and graduate students. It is an important base for Xi Jiaotong University to train high-level talents. Under the leadership of Academician Zheng Nanning, the leader and director of the discipline, he mainly carries out intelligent information processing based on computer vision and pattern recognition, and focuses on the statistical characteristics of visual signals, primary visual models, computer graphics and machine vision information calculation models in combination with the frontier of discipline development; Exploration and modeling of mathematical mechanism of intelligent system: computing video and VLSI design for image and video processing; intelligent control and identification system based on image information and various image processing methods and technologies. The Institute actively cooperates with domestic and foreign research institutions and enterprises, and has stable and extensive exchanges with universities, research institutes and IT enterprises in the United States, Japan, Britain, France, Germany, Canada, the Netherlands, Singapore and other countries, jointly cultivating doctoral students, sending teachers to give lectures for short periods, and receiving international students and visiting scholars from advanced industrial countries. In 2000, it won the first batch of support from the National Natural Science Foundation. After 20 years' development, based on the concept of innovative education, the Institute has been promoting independent innovation research, obtaining national independent intellectual property rights, and steadily marching towards world-class scientific research institutions!
