Some people say that the shorter the name of a college, the more powerful it is. I don't agree with them. Admittedly, many powerful universities have short names, such as Tsinghua, Peking University and Fudan University, but there are also many powerful universities with long names, such as China Renmin University and Huazhong University of Science and Technology. So I think that the greatness of colleges and universities has nothing to do with their names.

First, universities don't take abbreviations just because they are powerful. There are generally other naming rules.

For many schools, the name is chosen based on their region and school-running characteristics. For example, a famous university is located in Nanjing, so it is named Nanjing University, and Peking University is located in Beijing, so it is named Peking University. Other universities will be named after discipline-specific words, such as normal schools, and will be named after such words as so-and-so normal schools and universities. Therefore, the naming of colleges and universities is not divided according to the severity, but more according to geographical location, regional characteristics, history and culture.

Second, whether colleges and universities are strong or not depends on the strength of teachers and the level of running schools.

The shorter the name, the less powerful. For example, Guangzhou University, located in Guangzhou, is a key school, but compared with Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Beijing Normal University and other schools, its popularity is not outstanding, and its teaching staff is not comparable. Therefore, I think the reason why colleges and universities are so powerful does not depend on the name, but more on the culture inherited by the school itself, the faculty of the school, the resources of the school and so on.

Third, you can't judge whether a school is strong or not by the length of its name.

To sum up, we can know that in good universities, some schools have long names and some have short names. The length of the name is not the basis for criticizing the classification of schools. We should not look at schools with different names with colored eyes. The existence of every school has its importance. It cultivates talents, provides good resources for students, and promotes the development and progress of China's comprehensive strength.
