Located in Changsha, Hunan Province, Central South University of Forestry and Technology (CSUFT) is a provincial-level key university founded by the State Forestry and Grassland Bureau and the Hunan Provincial People's Government. It was selected into six universities in Hunan Province with postgraduate exemption qualification, and the first provincial university with postgraduate school in Hunan Province. Covering nine disciplines, such as science, engineering, agriculture, literature, economics, law, management, teaching and art, it is a comprehensive university with the right to confer Post-Doctoral Research Center and doctoral degrees and graduate students' exemption from examinations, featuring forestry science.
Central South University of Forestry and Technology, founded in 1958, is a key construction university of Hunan Provincial People's Government and State Forestry and Grassland Bureau. 20 12 was selected as the basic capacity building project in the central and western regions of China.
One of the school's predecessors was Hunan Forestry College established by 1958. In 2005, the Ministry of Education officially approved the school to be renamed as Central South University of Forestry and Technology. In 2006, the school merged with the former Hunan Economic Management Cadre College to form the new Central South University of Forestry and Technology.

It has an experimental forest farm covering an area of more than 70,000 mu (Hunan Beiluo Small National Forest Park).
