Bochum city introduction
Bochum is a city in Ruhr, western Germany. Located between Ruhr River and Emschel River, with a population of only 20,000 in the middle of19th century, it has rapidly developed into the industrial, mining, commercial and cultural center of Ruhr area with the exploitation of coal and iron resources. Industries include steel, chemistry, automobiles, machinery, textiles, beer, cigarettes and automobiles. There are many schools and research institutions in this city. Ruhr University was founded in 1965. There are also administrative colleges, industrial colleges, foreign trade colleges and mining colleges, as well as aerospace satellite research institute, planetarium, mineral geological museum, sports ground and so on.

Bochum is located in the center of Ruhr district, on the hill between Ruhr River and Emsch River. There are six universities in Bochum, including Ruhr University. There are German Mining Museum, Theatre, Planetarium, German Railway Museum and the most successful music star train in the world. This is a unique city.

Bochum is a relatively small city with a population of about 380,000 compared with domestic cities. Germany has a population of only 80 million, and Bochum can rank in the top ten by population. After living in a city with less than 20 thousand people for a year, I have a deep understanding of this ranking.

Bochum is located in the center of Ruhr, a heavy industrial zone in Germany, where Ruhr River winds through and has beautiful scenery. According to the German concept of dividing regions, Ruhr people are a group with special ideas. They are famous for speaking Ruhr German with vague accents and drinking bitter beers.

/kloc-in the 0 ~ (th) century, Bochum was once very prosperous because of the transformation from open-pit mining to underground mining, and it was an important coal-producing area in Germany. 2 1 At the beginning of the century, coal resources were increasingly exhausted, and the coal industry only meant a period of history to Bochum. With the closure of the last mining area in 1973, Bochum's coal industry has disappeared, leaving only a coal mine museum.

It is commendable that German and Bochum municipal governments have successfully carried out industrial transformation, and Bochum is still an important industrial town in Ruhr (Bochum's industrial transformation experience is valued by China, and Shanxi sent relevant personnel to Bochum to inspect the resettlement of coal miners in transition). From 65438 to 0963, the Opel factory of American General Motors settled in Bochum, which promoted the economic and employment development of Bochum. In 2007, GM had planned to close a part of Bochum factory, but it had to be put on hold temporarily because of the opposition of almost all individuals and organizations in Bochum.

Bochum people are not only proud of their dignified industrial history, but also proud of Ruhr University. Ruhr Bochum University was founded in the 1960s, focusing on liberal arts and natural sciences, with about 36,000 students and 400 professors.

So Bochum is a small city with 10% college students, which can be called a university town. Bochum's only subway line ends near the university, connecting the university and the urban area, and it is also a means of transportation for many students to go to class. Bochum University is built on the undulating plain, and the considerable drop has created beautiful scenery. Whenever I look at the sea through the glass window in the canteen of the unit factory, I will also think of the endless green forest looking out from the canteen of Bochum University.
