The College of Veterinary Medicine of Yangzhou University has a long history, which can be traced back to the private Tongzhou Normal School founded by patriotic industrialist Zhang Jian 1902, the Department of Agriculture and Education of Southern Jiangsu Institute of Culture and Education founded by 1928, the Department of Agriculture of Jiangnan University founded by 1946, and the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Northern Jiangsu Agricultural College founded by 1952 in Yangzhou. 1992, seven universities stationed in Yangzhou, including Jiangsu Agricultural College, merged to form Yangzhou University, which was renamed the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Agricultural College of Yangzhou University. 1994 is divided into animal science department and animal medicine department. 1998 Yangzhou University separated two departments of animal science and animal medicine from the Agricultural College and established the College of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Yangzhou University. From June 5438 to February 2003, Yangzhou University carried out institutional reform and faculty adjustment, and divided the College of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine into the College of Animal Science and Technology and the College of Veterinary Medicine, and established the College of Veterinary Medicine of Yangzhou University.
