Jiangsu University is a key comprehensive university approved by the Ministry of Education in August, 200012000. It was formed by the merger of the former Jiangsu University of Science and Technology, Zhenjiang Medical College and Zhenjiang Normal College. It is a university jointly established by the People's Government of Jiangsu Province, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. It is also the first batch of high-level universities in Jiangsu Province, the first batch of universities with excellent undergraduate teaching level in China, the first batch of 50 universities with typical experience in graduate employment, the first batch of universities with typical experience in innovation and entrepreneurship in China, and the first batch of universities with quality certification for overseas students in China.

The school has a history of 100 years and profound cultural background. Zhenjiang Agricultural Machinery College, the predecessor of Jiangsu University of Science and Technology, was independently founded by Nanjing Institute of Technology (now Southeast University) in 1960, and its school history can be traced back to Sanjiang Normal School, which was founded in 1902. As the earliest university in China to offer agricultural machinery specialty and systematically carry out agricultural machinery education, the school insists on Jiangsu and the service industry, and always takes the promotion of agricultural mechanization and modernization in China as its own responsibility, and has trained the first batch of undergraduate, master and first doctoral and postdoctoral students in agricultural machinery specialty in China, making a positive contribution to the cultivation of agricultural equipment talents and scientific and technological innovation, promoting farmers' income, agricultural development and rural stability.

The school has a high starting point and its comprehensive strength has become one of the top 100 in China. As early as 1978, the school was identified by the State Council as one of the 88 key universities in China, and in 198 1 year, it became the first batch of universities in China with the right to confer doctoral and master's degrees. In recent years, the school has paid attention to connotation development and implemented the development strategy of "high-level, distinctive and international". The influence of running schools at home and abroad has been continuously improved, and the ranking position of international authoritative world universities has moved forward steadily.
