Compared with several other Chinese-foreign cooperative universities, Guangdong Israel Institute of Technology has a relatively low reputation. In fact, this school is a member of the Sino-foreign cooperative university alliance and the latest one of the nine cooperative universities. At present, it is the only Chinese-foreign cooperative university in science and engineering in China. It is also the China Campus founded by the Israeli Institute of Technology. The school is also supported by the Li Ka-shing Foundation, and it is also a representative project of cooperation between China and Israel in the field of education. There is also a story between Israel Institute of Technology and Einstein. Einstein founded the First Institute of Israel Institute of Technology and served as its chairman, which opened a new model to promote the development and dissemination of education.

Guangdong Israel Institute of Technology, referred to as "GTIIT" and "Guangyi", is located in Shantou City, Guangdong Province. It is jointly run by Israel Institute of Technology and Shantou University. It is a full-time undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of Education. The school began enrolling students on 20 17. In June, 2022, official website showed that the school set up seven undergraduate majors. As of 202 1, there are no doctoral or master's authorized disciplines in the school. Since 20 18, the school has been relying on Israel Institute of Technology to train master's and doctoral students. The school is the China Campus of Israel Institute of Technology, which strictly implements the academic requirements and teaching methods of Israel Institute of Technology and teaches in English.

Students will attend Israel Institute of Technology and Guangdong Institute of Technology at the same time after entering school, and will be awarded "three certificates" after graduation. Undergraduate enrollment is aimed at the first batch of undergraduate enrollment in the whole country 15 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities), based entirely on the candidates' college entrance examination results. It should be noted that since the undergraduate majors offered by Guangdong Israel Institute of Technology are all science and engineering, there are requirements for candidates to choose courses in high school. Basically, physics is the first choice, followed by chemistry or biology.

All the main courses in this school are taught in English. Non-English language candidates should apply carefully.
