Heilongjiang institute of technology Institute of Technology, located in Harbin, an ice city, is a provincial full-time undergraduate college with work-oriented and multidisciplinary coordinated development. It is listed as the first batch of colleges and universities to implement the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan" set up by the National Defense Science and Technology Bureau, the Heilongjiang Provincial People's Government and the Ministry of Education, and one hundred demonstration schools to implement the education modernization promotion project and the application-oriented university construction project implemented by the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Education.
In September 2022, the official website of the school showed that the school covers an area of nearly 800,000 square meters and has more than 240 faculty members/kloc-0. At present, there are 16 teaching units and 56 undergraduate majors, among which 15 majors have been selected as the first-class construction majors in the national and provincial "Two Million Plan". There are 3 master's degree authorization points, 3 national defense specialty disciplines and 2 provincial key construction disciplines.
The school was founded in 1952, and its predecessor was Heilongjiang Communications College under the Heilongjiang Provincial Communications Department and Harbin Engineering College under the former Ministry of Metallurgy. In March 2000, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, it was merged and renamed heilongjiang institute of technology. By 2022, heilongjiang institute of technology ranked 366th in China University of Soft Science in 2022.
