Many universities in Japan don't have dormitories. Where do their students usually live?
Last year, I traveled to Japan and visited several universities. I find it interesting that there are basically no dormitories in Japanese universities. Except for a few dormitories for students staying in school, it is difficult to see dormitories everywhere like domestic universities.

Some people say that because Japan is a small place and the land price in cities is expensive, schools generally do not choose to give such precious land to dormitory buildings. Students can only rent a house outside.

Some schools can live in freshmen, but there are few houses. In sophomore year, they will kick you out to make room for freshmen.

The Japanese believe that when you come out of college, you have to work independently. Facing the society, renting a house can be regarded as their early integration into society. So the Japanese don't think it is difficult to live independently in college. On the contrary, in China, in the eyes of parents and society, college students are still pure students and have no independent ability.

When it comes to money, most students have the support of their parents. It is convenient to do part-time jobs by themselves, and the part-time salary is not bad. There is not much pressure to cope with rent and living expenses.

Some domestic college students will also choose to rent a house. Some students have good conditions at home. Parents dislike the poor dormitory environment and rent a house for their children outside the school. Of course, there is nothing wrong with this, but it will reduce the contact between children and classmates, which is not conducive to participating in school activities and improving communication with classmates.

Some students are not suitable to live with roommates because of physical reasons, such as severe insomnia and physical illness.

Of course, there are also a few students who choose to rent a house off campus for the convenience of two people after falling in love.
