The emblem of Peking University designed by Lu Xun.
19 17 Cai Yuanpei, then president of Peking University, invited Lu Xun to design the emblem of Peking University. In 1980s, based on the logo designed by Lu Xun, different colors such as blue, red and yellow appeared, as well as slightly different formats. The emblem of Peking University highlights the concept of "people-oriented" and explains the past, present and future of Peking University in a concise form.
Design concept:
There are three explanations for the meaning of the emblem of Peking University: one is "three people join in the fun", the other is "national backbone" and the third is "teacher-student relationship".
(1) "threesome" says: the word "Peking University" on the school emblem is arranged up and down. The word "North" in the upper part is two figures standing back to back, and the word "Big" in the lower part is a human figure standing in front, just like a person carrying two people, which constitutes the image of "three people make up a group".
② "National Backbone" Theory: Lu Xun took the word "Peking University" as the image backbone, hoping that Peking University students would become the backbone of national rejuvenation.
(3) The Teacher-Student Relationship says: The school emblem is composed of the seal character "Peking University", and the word "big" can be used as a symbol of the teacher, bending his legs and supporting the two students on his shoulders hard but firmly.
