Donghua University is a national "2 1 1 project" and a national "double-class" construction university directly under the Ministry of Education. Adhering to the motto of "respect for morality, erudition, determination and pragmatism", the school has developed into a multi-disciplinary and distinctive high-level university with advantages in textiles, materials and design.
School history can be traced back to Nantong Textile Printing and Dyeing Institute founded by Zhang Jian in 19 12. The school was founded in 195 1, named East China Institute of Textile Technology, which was formed by the merger of the Textile Department of Jiaotong University and other textile departments in East China, Central South and Southwest China. 1985 was renamed China Textile University, and 1999 was renamed Donghua University.
The school is located in Shanghai, China, with Songjiang Campus, Yan 'an Road Campus and Xinhua Road Campus, covering an area of nearly 2,000 mu, with a total construction area of over 830,000 square meters. The school is "Shanghai Garden Unit" and "Shanghai Civilized Campus". Songjiang Campus is a national water conservancy scenic spot.
