Wuhan University of Technology is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC), the first batch of national world-class discipline construction universities, and the first batch of national "2 1 1 project" construction universities, which are jointly established by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Transport and the State Bureau of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense.
It has been selected into the 985 Innovation Platform of Engineering Superiority Discipline, "11Plan", the education and training plan for outstanding engineers, the national postgraduate plan for building a high-level university, the new engineering research and practice project, the scholarship receiving institution of China government for overseas students in China, and the national cultural quality education base for college students.

Wuhan University of Technology has established personnel training and scientific research cooperation relations with more than 90 universities and scientific research institutions in the United States, Britain, Japan, France, Italy, Australia, Russia, the Netherlands and other countries, and hired more than 200 well-known scholars at home and abroad as strategic scientists, lecturers, visiting professors and honorary professors.
In addition, 16 high-level international research platform has been established with famous foreign universities and research institutions. Relying on the school, the Ministry of Science and Technology has successively established seven national and provincial international scientific and technological cooperation bases, including the international joint laboratory of new material composite technology, the international scientific and technological cooperation base of environmental protection building materials and the international scientific and technological cooperation base of intelligent shipping and maritime safety.
