The school was formerly known as Guangdong Institute of Technology founded by 1983, and 1996 was renamed Shenzhen University.
Shenzhen University is a comprehensive university focusing on undergraduate education, postgraduate education and continuing education. There are 22 colleges, 1 independent college, covering science, engineering, medicine, literature, law, economics, management, teaching and other disciplines, 83 undergraduate majors, 30 master's disciplines and 5 doctoral disciplines. The school has a high-level faculty, with nearly 3,000 faculty members, including more than 800 professors and associate professors, and the proportion of teachers with doctoral degrees has reached more than 60%.
In recent years, Shenzhen University has made many achievements in teaching, scientific research and social services, and won many national and provincial scientific research achievement awards. At the same time, actively promoting international education and strengthening cooperation and exchanges with universities at home and abroad have made important contributions to the economic and social development of Shenzhen and Greater Bay Area.
