China Communication University (Media? University? Yes? China), referred to as "Zhongchuan", is located in Beijing, the capital, and is an industry-specific university in the information and communication field directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC). It is a national "double first-class" construction university, a national "2 1 1 Project" key construction university and a national "985 Engineering Advantage Discipline Innovation Platform" construction university. National "11/plan", "National High-level University Construction Postgraduate Program", "National College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Program", selected universities in Asia campus, initiator of International Media Higher Education Alliance, chairman of UNESCO's "Media and Women", and recipient institution of China government's scholarship for overseas students.
The school's predecessor was the training course for technicians of the Central Broadcasting Bureau, which was founded in 1954. 1958 was renamed Beijing Broadcasting Institute. 1959 approved by the State Council, the school was upgraded to Beijing Broadcasting Institute. In 2000, it was transferred from the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television to the Ministry of Education. In 200 1 year, it was identified as the national "2 1 1 project" key construction university. In 2002, China University of Mining and Technology Beijing Campus (formerly Beijing Coal Management Cadre College) East Campus was merged into Beijing Broadcasting Institute. In 2004, it was renamed China Communication University.
