The main entrance of Guangxi University is not the west gate, but the south gate, which is on University East Road 100. The west gate of Guangxi University is on Luban Road.

Guangxi University, referred to as "Xida University" for short, is a national key university listed in the sequence of universities directly under the Ministry of Education and jointly established with various ministries and provinces in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It is a national "double-class" "2 1 1 project" key construction university and selected as the leading university in "201/plan".

Guangxi University was founded in 1928, and its first president was Dr. Ma, a "grandmaster" who was known as the "Northern Cai South Ma" in education. 1939 was renamed as National Guangxi University in Guilin, where a number of famous teachers such as Zhu Kezhen, Li Siguang, Chen Wangdao and Chen Yinque once taught. 1952, Mao Zedong wrote the name of Guangxi University in his own handwriting.
