Xi University of Technology, referred to as "West Institute of Technology", is located in the ancient capital Xi. It is one of the key construction universities in the national "Basic Capacity Building Project of Midwest Universities", the first batch of "Excellent Plan" universities by the Ministry of Education, one of the key construction universities of high-level universities in Shaanxi Province, and one of the 24 universities expanded by the Dean Association of China Graduate School.
The school was founded in 1949, when the people's government took over the National Beiping Advanced Industrial Vocational School. Its predecessor was Shaanxi Institute of Machinery, which was formed by the merger of Beijing Institute of Machinery and shaanxi university of technology in 1972. Approved by the Ministry of Education, it was renamed as Xi University of Technology on 1994.
