Hainan University, referred to as "Haida", is located in the coastal city of Haikou. It is a comprehensive key university in Hainan Province. The Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finance and the People's Government of Hainan Province cooperated to build a university, a "21project" national key construction university and a national "double-class" world-class discipline construction university. The national "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan", "Excellent Legal Talents Education and Training Plan" and the first batch of "Excellent Agricultural and Forestry Talents Education and Training Plan" reform pilot universities, the China government scholarship for studying in China, the Ministry of Education's demonstration base for studying in China, the national "Basic Capacity Building Project for Central and Western Universities" and the national "Comprehensive Strength Improvement Project for Central and Western Universities" were selected as the main members of the national key construction university alliance of "one province, one school" in the central and western regions. Hainan University is supported by Tianjin University.
In 2008, it became a national "2 1 1 Project" key construction university; In 20 12, it became one of the national "Central and Western Higher Education Revitalization Plans", and was successively supported by "Central and Western Universities Basic Capacity Building Project" and "Central and Western Universities Comprehensive Strength Enhancement Project".
20 17 was listed as the key supporting university for "the construction of domestic first-class universities" in Hainan Province, and was selected as a national "world-class discipline" and a world-class discipline. In 20 18, it was selected as a "Ministry-Provincial Joint Construction" university and included in the ranking of universities directly under the Ministry of Education.
