1952, Shanxi machinery manufacturing industrial school was founded by Shanxi Provincial Department of Industry.

1953 was placed under the First Ministry of Machinery Industry and renamed as Taiyuan Machine Building School of the First Ministry of Machinery Industry.

1955 The teachers and students of forging specialty in Hankou Machine Building School (later merged into Wuhan University of Technology) and the teachers of forging specialty in Changchun Automobile School (later merged into Jilin University) were all merged.

1960, renamed Taiyuan Institute of Heavy Machinery.

From 65438 to 0965, all teachers and students majoring in lifting and transportation machinery were merged into Dalian Institute of Technology (now Dalian University of Technology) and Shenyang Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (now Shenyang University of Technology).
