1, the first stage:
The first stage is from 1949 to19511. This stage is a pilot adjustment stage, mainly based on local and individual institutions.
2, the second stage:
The second stage is a big adjustment from 65438 to 0952, 65438 to 09565438 to 065438. 10, the Ministry of Education organized a national conference of presidents of engineering colleges, and issued a plan for the adjustment of departments of engineering colleges nationwide, which officially opened the curtain of this adjustment.
1in the autumn of 952, the adjustment of colleges and departments in colleges and universities nationwide was carried out under the leadership of the Ministry of Education, following the policy of rectifying comprehensive universities and developing specialized colleges. By the end of 1952, the adjustment in Northeast China, North China and East China was relatively thorough, and nearly three-quarters of colleges and universities in China had completed this work.
3, the third stage:
The third stage can be counted from 1953, and the adjustment focuses on the central and southern regions, while other regions are only partially adjusted. 1953 focus on the central and southern regions, adjust the majors in North China, Northeast China and East China, and adjust the majors in Northwest China and Southwest China.
In principle, we should still focus on transforming old compound universities, strengthen and add industrial universities and appropriately add normal universities; Financial colleges and universities should take appropriate measures to rectify, strengthen and reform teachers to prepare conditions for future development.
4, the fourth stage:
The fourth stage is the supplementary adjustment of university layout (1955 ~ 1957). In order to strengthen the development of mainland universities, we should reform the situation that universities are too concentrated in a few cities, especially coastal cities, and move some colleges or departments in coastal areas inward.
At the same time, some universities are newly built or expanded on the basis of some inward-moving majors. In addition, some forces have been transferred from universities in coastal cities to support a number of mainland universities. After this adjustment, the number of universities in mainland China has greatly increased, from 87 in 195 1 to15, accounting for about half of the total number of universities in China (229).
