Advantages of Master of Applied Mathematics in Cambridge University

This course, usually called the third part, is a one-year master of mathematics course. It is an excellent preparation for mathematical research and a valuable course of mathematics and its application, which is suitable for those who need further training before working in industrial, teaching or research institutions.

Students outside Cambridge will enter the third part to pursue a master's degree in advanced research. Students pass the Cambridge exam Tripos and enter the fourth year of Master of Mathematics (MMath). The requirements and curriculum structure of the third part are the same for all students, whether they are pursuing a master's degree or a mathematics degree.

Every year, there are more than 200 third-part students, almost all of whom are in the fourth or fifth year of university study. There are generally about 80 courses, covering a wide range of pure mathematics, probability theory, statistics, applied mathematics, theoretical physics and so on. These courses are designed to cover advanced parts that are not usually included in the original courses, but are essential for independent study and research. Students can choose a variety of course combinations, and of course they tend to choose similar courses.
