The National English Proficiency Competition for Middle School Students is awarded by the National Competition Organizing Committee. There are three award levels: the first prize, the second prize and the third prize, all of which are awarded by teachers and students, and there is also an excellent organization award. The first prize, the second prize and the third prize are all produced through the finals of each division, and are determined by the competition organizations of all provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government) according to the final results.

The National English Proficiency Competition for Middle School Students is the largest English subject competition in China, one of the important reward mechanisms for basic foreign language education in China, and a comprehensive English proficiency competition for middle school students across the country.

This competition has had a positive and extensive impact on English teaching in middle schools all over the country. Test scores and related data have become the driving force and resources for teaching reform and test evaluation reform. Through this competition, the participating students have established their confidence in learning English, stimulated their interest in learning English, and laid a good foundation for their lasting study and personal development.

The Organizing Committee of the National English Competition for Middle School Students (hereinafter referred to as the National Organizing Committee) was established with the main leading members of the Foreign Language Education Research Center of the National Basic Education Experimental Center as the main members.
