Huazhong Agricultural University, referred to as Huanong, is located in Wuhan, Hubei Province. It is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education and Renmin University of China, which is characterized by life science and has coordinated development of agriculture, science, engineering, literature, law, economics and management. The national "double first-class" construction universities, the national "2 1 1 project" and "985 engineering advantage discipline innovation platform" focus on the construction of universities.

The origin of running a school can be traced back to Hubei Agricultural School, which was founded in 1898 by the Qing government at the invitation of Governor Huguang during the Guangxu period of Qing Dynasty. It is one of the starting points of higher agricultural education in China. Huazhong Agricultural College was established in 1952 by the Agricultural College of Wuhan University, all departments of Hubei Agricultural College and some departments of six comprehensive universities such as Sun Yat-sen University, and was renamed Huazhong Agricultural University in 1985. In 2000, it was placed under the direct leadership of the Ministry of Education from the Ministry of Agriculture.
