University teaching conditions are superior. There are five central and local university laboratories for basic biology, bioengineering, biological science, environmental science and engineering, and plant science and technology, with the total value of instruments and equipment of more than 25 million yuan, among which "Basic Biology Laboratory" is a demonstration laboratory in Hunan Province, with advanced instruments and equipment represented by GC-MS and protein Purification System. In 2000, the basic biology laboratory passed the double-base evaluation organized by the Provincial Department of Education, and in 2005, it implemented the construction project of "Central and Local Basic Biology Laboratory", and in 2006, it became the "Basic Biology Curriculum Demonstration Laboratory" in Hunan Province. The specialized laboratory of bioengineering was jointly established by the Ministry and the province in 2003, with a total value of instruments and equipment of nearly 4 million yuan. The total value of environmental science experimental instruments and equipment is nearly 4 million yuan. In addition, two central and local laboratories with distinctive advantages are under construction, with a total investment of more than 6 million yuan. The laboratory of "Protection and Utilization of Plant Germplasm Resources" is a key laboratory of universities in Hunan Province. The college has the largest animal and plant specimen room in the border area of Hunan, Hubei, Chongqing and Guizhou, with more than 50,000 plant specimens and 1000 animal specimens, mainly concentrated in the plant resources in Wuling Mountain area. There is a professional reference room with a collection of more than 70,000 professional books and materials. There are more than 20 teaching, scientific research, experiment and practice bases inside and outside the province. The college has also established close cooperative relations with North Carolina State University, Sun Yat-sen University and Shenyang Institute of Applied Ecology, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
