The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge is the first cross-sea passage in China that integrates bridges, double artificial islands and tunnels. The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge project includes three contents: first, the main project of the cross-sea bridge tunnel; Second, the ports of Hong Kong, Zhuhai and Macao; The third is the connecting line between Hong Kong, Zhuhai and Macao.
Among them, the main project jointly built by Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao is about 29.6 kilometers long, consisting of 22.9 kilometers of bridge engineering and 6.7 kilometers of submarine immersed tunnel. There are two artificial islands in the east and west at both ends of the tunnel, facing each other across the sea, and the middle is choppy and magnificent.
After opening to traffic, the travel time from Hong Kong to Zhuhai and Macau has been shortened from 3 hours to about 45 minutes, which is of great strategic significance for enhancing the comprehensive competitiveness of the Pearl River Delta region, maintaining the long-term prosperity and stability of Hong Kong and Macao, and building Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Cultural characteristics
The architectural style design of the bridge and tunnel of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge brings together the cultural elements of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, and condenses the cultural memory of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao. At the same time, it means that Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao will work together to create a "century project". Among them, Qingzhou Waterway Bridge, Jianghai Direct Ship Waterway Bridge and Jiuzhou Waterway Bridge show the images of Chinese knots, three Chinese white dolphins and sailboats respectively.
Some architectural styles of the East and West artificial islands are inspired by Lingnan architecture, such as "colonnade" and "arcade". From aerial photography and overlooking the artificial island, we can see the words like "China"; There are two bronze tripod bridges on the east and west artificial islands. The reliefs describe four stories, namely "undersea embroidery", "miracle of island building", "dragon going out to sea" and "dreaming of solitude", which respectively describe the important construction process of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.
On one side of the east-west artificial island building, there are wide and large steps extending from the bottom to the height, and space is reserved for installing six escalators, so that visitors can enjoy the scenery of different heights, such as dolphin habitat, waves and waves, sunrise and sunset.
