Introduction to the Provincial Excellent Course Introduction to Earth Science

Introduction to Earth Science is a leading course in the earth science teaching system, which plays a role in constructing the basic framework of professional knowledge structure. The course focuses on the tasks and functions that earth science should face in the new century, adopts the macroscopic man-earth system theory and planetary earth view, systematically discusses all layers of the earth, introduces the research objects, methods and means of earth science, and especially emphasizes the relationship among atmosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere and lithosphere and its influence on the earth surface and human beings. The basic contents include: the basic arguments and factual basis for the formation of the modern universe; Hypothesis and evidence of the origin of the solar system and the earth; Earth's material composition and geological dating method; Structure and geophysical characteristics of the earth's stratosphere; Basic characteristics of atmosphere, hydrosphere and biosphere and external dynamic geological processes such as weathering, wind, rivers, groundwater, oceans and glaciers; Characteristics of minerals and rocks that constitute the lithosphere, and internal dynamic geological processes such as magma, metamorphism, structure and earthquake; Earth dynamic system; The role of earth science in resource utilization, disaster prevention and environmental protection; Basic knowledge of earth system science.

Brief Introduction of Provincial Excellent Course Petrology

Petrology is an important basic course for geoscience majors, which consists of igneous rocks, sedimentary petrology and metamorphic petrology. The teaching of this course adopts the combination of theoretical teaching and experimental teaching. It mainly teaches the basic theory, knowledge and skills of petrology, with emphasis on the ideas and experiences of studying rocks. At the same time, it combines petrography with petrology. On the basis of expounding the petrology, geological occurrence, material composition, structure, classification and naming of rocks and the basic characteristics of main rock types, this paper also introduces how to analyze the formation model and geochemistry of rocks by using the basic principles of physical chemistry and geochemistry. In practice teaching, students' observation and practical ability are emphasized. Through a large number of practical classes, students can master the basic characteristics and identification characteristics of three kinds of rocks.

Brief Introduction of Provincial Excellent Course "Mineral Deposit Science"

The course of mineral deposit science is the main specialized course of geology and resource exploration engineering, and its teaching is divided into two stages: mineralogy and mineral deposit science. As the basis of mineral deposit science and an important practical teaching link, mineralogy mainly teaches the use of mineralogical microscope, physical and optical characteristics of minerals under reflection microscope, erosion identification, simple identification of common metal minerals, ore fabric and mineralization period. The part of deposit science mainly teaches the basic concept, theory and knowledge of mineralization, and analyzes the geological characteristics, ore-controlling factors, mineralization and temporal and spatial distribution of various genetic types of deposits. In practice teaching, we pay attention to cultivating students' observation and practical ability. Through a large number of experiments and practical courses, students can master the research contents and working methods of mineral deposit science, and cultivate scientific thinking methods and the ability to find, analyze and solve problems.

Brief Introduction of Provincial Excellent Course "Structural Geology"

Structural geology is a basic course of geology and one of the important courses that geologists must master. Structural geology takes structural analysis as the methodology to study the structure of the crust or lithosphere, mainly studies the basic structural characteristics, classification and observation methods at medium and small scales, and introduces the basic theory of the genetic mechanism of faults, folds, joints, foliation and lineation, as well as the research methods and ideas of modern structural geology. Through the study of the experimental class, students learn to determine the occurrence of plane and linear structures by stereographic projection, learn the methods and steps of reading and analyzing geological maps, and master the techniques and methods of drawing geological maps and structural maps. The course of structural geology trains students' ability to observe, describe, analyze geology and comprehensively solve geological problems.
