Literature The College of Literature and Art of Shihezi University was founded in 198 1 1983 was renamed the Chinese Department, Music and Physical Beauty Department of the Education College of the Corps. 1996 Shihezi university merged and changed its name to the department of Chinese, the department of music, sports and fine arts of Shihezi university teachers college. 1998 the art department was established on the basis of music and art majors in the department of music, sports and beauty. In order to speed up the construction and development of the major of literature and art, and further adjust the layout of disciplines and majors, in February 2005, the Chinese Department and the Art Department of the Normal College of Shihezi University were separated, and the College of Literature and Art of Shihezi University was established.
Art College is an entity college for teaching and scientific research. The college consists of Chinese Department, Art Department, China New Poetry Research Institute, Xinjiang Folk Song Research Center, Bingtuan Art Education Research Institute, and Western Region National Culture Research Institute. At present, there are 86 faculty members, including 2 professors and associate professors, including 9 master students, 2 doctoral students and 5 master students. Professor Wen Rumin from Peking University, Professor Li Yang from Renmin University of China and Professor Cheng Guangwei are double-hired professors. Fredric Jameson and Liu Kang, professors of Duke University in the United States, Zhang He, professor of William Patterson University in the United States, Di Ribar, an internationally renowned singer, and famous scholars at home and abroad such as Tsinghua University Academy of Fine Arts, Tianjin Normal University Art College and Shanghai Normal University Art College are visiting professors. The college has four undergraduate majors (including Chinese language and literature, radio and television news, fine arts and musicology) with 994 students; There are 5 adult correspondence undergraduate majors with nearly 1800 registered students; There are international students from Pakistan, Japan, South Korea and other countries 135. The Chinese Department is actively applying for a master's degree in modern and contemporary literature in China.
The College of Literature and Arts attaches great importance to the promotion and improvement of teaching by scientific research. In the past two years, teachers have undertaken 2 national philosophical and social projects, 1 autonomous region project 10 and 9 school-level projects. The college has 18 teaching and research section, two professional reference rooms, and five laboratories, including art laboratory, computer music teaching laboratory, multimedia classroom, voice teaching laboratory and radio and television news laboratory. Some teaching equipment has reached the first-class level of similar universities in Xinjiang.
