Chinese majors offer a series of Chinese courses: comprehensive courses, listening courses, oral courses, reading courses, writing courses and translation courses. There are also various China culture courses: China's national conditions, economy, history, geography, literature, philosophy and so on.
The overall goal of Chinese teaching is to cultivate students' ability to skillfully use modern Chinese, so that students can have a solid basic knowledge of Chinese, a certain professional theory and basic knowledge of China culture, become "China hands" who are familiar with China's national conditions and cultural background, and become applied Chinese talents who can meet the requirements of the modern international community.
Chinese language majors are divided into three directions: Chinese, economy and trade, and Chinese-English bilingualism.
The first and second grades of this major are the basic teaching stage, focusing on the strengthening of listening, speaking, reading and writing ability. The third and fourth grades offer Chinese language direction and economic and trade direction.
Undergraduates who have completed the undergraduate course of Chinese language major and obtained the required credits and the corresponding HSK grade certificate can obtain the undergraduate graduation certificate and bachelor's degree certificate of Chinese language major through thesis defense.
Basic Chinese training began to enroll students as early as 1987, and 1998 formally established the Basic Chinese Department.
The main courses offered by the Department of Basic Chinese are: comprehensive courses, listening courses, oral courses, listening and speaking courses, reading courses, reading current affairs articles, writing courses and cultural courses. In addition, there are various elective courses as auxiliary teaching: Chinese character class, painting and calligraphy class, China Kung Fu class, film appreciation and HSK tutoring.
The overall goal of the teaching of Basic Chinese Department is to cultivate students' comprehensive ability to use Chinese, such as listening, speaking, reading and writing, and to familiarize students with the national conditions and cultural background of China, so as to meet the needs of students coming to China at different levels and for different purposes.
