Astronomy is a basic natural science discipline that studies the origin and evolution of various celestial bodies in the universe and the universe itself. Under the background of current disciplines refinement, astronomy actually contains many different sub-disciplines, and there are some differences between China and North America, which is also related to the traditional degree of departments. In addition, modern astronomy meets many other disciplines, resulting in many interdisciplinary disciplines.
Astrophysics: This is the pillar of modern astronomy. Through observation, theory and numerical simulation, we study the physical processes in different types of celestial bodies to understand their origin and evolution. According to the detailed fields, it can be subdivided into different sub-fields, such as stellar physics, interstellar medium physics, milky way galaxy, extragalactic galaxy and so on.
However, the foundation of mathematics and physics and the study of related astronomy courses in these fields are relatively consistent. There are also strong links between these fields, and a qualified astronomy student should take courses involving all these fields.
Almost all astronomy departments will provide astrophysics education. In addition to basic mathematical physics training (which should be similar to the level of physics, but with slightly different emphasis), astrophysics study should also involve basic courses such as common knowledge of astrophysics, basic radiation mechanism, star structure, atmosphere and interstellar medium physics.
