Xi University of Technology, founded in 1955 and formerly known as Xi 'an No.2 Industrial School, is one of the key construction projects in the First Five-Year Plan 156, with distinctive military characteristics. 1960 upgraded to Xi' an instrument industry institute; 1965 upgraded to Xi' an institute of technology, becoming the only military engineering undergraduate college in northwest China allocated by the state. In 2006, it was renamed Xi University of Technology with the approval of the Ministry of Education.
