Higher vocational education, referred to as HBO, requires four years of study to get a degree in HBO. Students with this degree (Dutch HBO getuigschrift) are eligible to apply for post-HBO courses. College students who graduated from engineering and agriculture departments were awarded an engineer (ir) degree, while other departments received a bachelor's degree (bc).
