Jianghan University is a comprehensive state-owned university located in Wuhan, Hubei Province. It is a key construction university in Wuhan and a "double-first-class" construction university in Hubei Province. It has been selected into the Hubei 20 1 1 plan, the basic capacity building project of central and western universities, the education and training plan for outstanding engineers, the Hubei1/plan, and the national new engineering research and practice.

Its predecessors were Jianghan University and Hankou Branch of Huazhong University of Science and Technology founded by 198 1, Wuhan Institute of Education founded by 1952, and Wuhan Staff Medical College founded by 1950.
