The Historical Evolution of German Medical Colleges
189 1 year, Paul erich, a doctor on board the German navy, came to Shanghai. Seeing cholera, typhoid fever, malaria and other diseases prevalent in Shanghai, he decided to leave the navy and open a clinic in Shanghai. He first returned to Germany to continue his medical research, improve the level of surgery and raise funds. 1893 came to Shanghai again, set up a clinic near the German church in Shanghai at that time, and launched the "German Medical Association" with several German doctors in Shanghai. During the period of 1899, the business of German Medical Association was sluggish, and paulun erich raised a sum of money through China industry and German companies. At that time, W. Knappa, German Consul General in Shanghai, sent P. D. Fischer, Counsellor of the Consulate, to negotiate with an official of China in Shanghai. Shanghai Road decided to use a piece of land next to Zhangjiabang Road (now Fengyang Road in Shanghai) to build a hospital. 1900 or so, the "tongji hospital" founded by Porun erich was officially listed. This hospital is the predecessor of Wuhan tongji hospital. Most doctors in the hospital are members of the German Medical Association. They are busy running their own clinics during the day and only go to the hospital for outpatient service and surgery at night. Dr. paulun erich saw that the medical strength of the hospital was insufficient, and planned to set up a German medical museum in the hospital to recruit China students to train doctors. This plan was supported by the German Consul General in Shanghai and the higher education department of the German government. 1906, they set up a foundation to support the establishment of medical schools. With the help of "koppel Foundation for Promoting the Exchange of Ideas between Germany and Foreign Countries" in Germany, they raised a batch of medical books and new surgical electric instruments.
Before the start of medical school in June, 1907, Knapp, Consul General of Germany in Shanghai, not only called on German businessmen to donate money, but also asked German foreign firms to raise money from Chinese businessmen. At the same time, Fisher also asked the German government to provide funds and support. Knapp used the donations raised in China and China to set up the German Medical Hall Foundation for the German people. At that time, it was stipulated that people with large donations could become directors of yiguang's board of directors. When yiguang was founded, it was named Shanghai Wende yiguang, and a board of directors was established to be responsible for the management of the school. The board of directors is composed of 18 people, and the main members are: three elders of the German Medical Association: Baolong, Foshabo (the second president) and Faucoeur; Three German businessmen: Lemcke, Michelau and Lena; Two China gentry businessmen: Zhu (Comprador, Finance Minister of Shanghai Juntongfu and President of Shanghai Chamber of Commerce) and amro Comprador; Freiher von Rutte, Vice Consul of the Consulate General. Dr. paulun erich was officially elected as the chief supervisor (chairman) of the board of directors and the first prime minister (principal) of the school, responsible for the management of the school. Yiguang is located on Baike Road (now Fengyang Road), opposite to tongji hospital. 1 9071June1day, the opening ceremony was held in Shanghai Devon Medical Center.
After the names of China-France National Institute of Technology, National Shanghai Advanced Machinery Vocational School and Shanghai Machinery Industry School (technical secondary school), it was renamed as Shanghai Institute of Machinery (junior college) on 199 1 and upgraded to a side door of the headquarters of Shanghai University of Science and Technology.
Colleges and universities are characteristic schools for cultivating applied talents. 1996 In May, east china institute of technology (formerly Shanghai Institute of Mechanical Engineering) and Shanghai Institute of Mechanical Engineering merged to form University of Shanghai for Science and Technology. 1999, Shanghai Institute of Optical Instruments was merged into the school. In July 2003, Shanghai Institute of Medical Devices and Shanghai Institute of Publishing and Printing were placed under the management of Shanghai University of Science and Technology.
