College students

Junior college, that is, junior college education, is an integral part of higher education and one of the levels of university education. College education is mainly divided into full-time college and part-time college. Generally, for those who enroll middle school graduates or equivalent, the basic study period is two to three years (the study period of part-time education should be appropriately extended).

After 1999, in addition to the specialized education in normal colleges, medical colleges and public security colleges, specialized education usually refers to the specialized education in higher vocational education (hereinafter referred to as higher vocational education), which is to cultivate and master the necessary basic theory and professional knowledge of this major on the basis of completing secondary education, and to have the basic professional skills and preliminary ability to engage in practical work in this major.

The Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC) and the Ministry of Finance of People's Republic of China (PRC) put forward the plan to build high-level vocational schools and majors with China characteristics. Since 20 19, the Ministry of Education has concentrated on building about 50 high-level vocational schools and 150 high-level professional groups. Focus on the shortage of technical and technical talents such as modern agriculture, advanced manufacturing, modern service industry and strategic emerging industries. "Double High Plan" is a milestone in the new round of educational reform in higher vocational colleges.

Type of education:

According to the type of education, junior college education can be divided into subject education and vocational education (such as higher vocational education). Before 1999, junior college education (secondary college education and higher vocational education) was subject education (professional education), graduates were assigned, and college secondary school and undergraduate education were elite education.

After 1999, except for the specialized education of teachers' college, medicine and public security, it is all higher vocational education. As a new educational model, higher vocational education pays more attention to the cultivation of application ability, which is a reasonable adjustment for education to actively adapt to the market. Compared with traditional college education, it is closer to the talent market, and graduates are not included in the distribution.

According to the relevant regulations of the Ministry of Education, full-time colleges and universities in normal, medical and public security specialties are standardized with the suffix "specialist", while full-time colleges and universities in non-normal, non-medical and non-public security specialties are gradually standardized with the suffix "vocational and technical college" or "vocational college".
