Shaanxi University of Science and Technology is the only multidisciplinary university in western China that features light industry. Established by China National Light Industry Federation, China Light Industry Group Corporation and Shaanxi Provincial Government. It is one of the national "Basic Capacity Building Projects for Universities in the Midwest" and one of the provincial-level high-level universities in Shaanxi Province, and was selected as a pilot university in the "Outstanding Engineer Program" of the Ministry of Education.
