What does the credit system charge mean?
The credit system charges students who still fail the make-up exam and need to study the course again. Schools can charge tuition fees, but the tuition fees shall not exceed the original cost of studying the course. Schools must charge tuition fees according to the academic performance of the courses actually taken by students in that year. In other words, colleges and universities quantify all the courses of a major into credits, such as 6 credits for mathematics and 3 credits for English. Credits are divided into compulsory credits and elective credits, and you can graduate only after you have completed enough.

For example, if a school requires an elective credit of not less than 12, then you can choose freely from all elective courses as long as the total credit reaches or exceeds 12. If it is not enough, you need to pay extra for the make-up exam. The calculation method of make-up exam fee is: credit difference × credit unit price = charged amount.

Extended data:

According to Article 2 of the Notice of the National Development and Reform Commission on Further Strengthening the Management of Credit System Fees in Colleges and Universities, the total tuition fees paid by students after completing their studies shall not be higher than the total tuition fees for implementing the academic year system. The tuition fees paid by students in that year can be charged according to the fees required for selecting credits.

After changing to the credit system, colleges and universities can charge tuition fees for students who still fail to pass the make-up exam and need to study the course again, and the tuition fee standard shall not exceed the original fee standard for studying the course. It is strictly forbidden for colleges and universities to raise fees or charge other fees in disguise in the name of changing fees according to the credit system.
