Northwest University, referred to as "Xida University", is located in Xi City, the capital of Shaanxi Province. It is a comprehensive national key university founded by China people, Ministry of Education and Shaanxi Provincial People's Government. Ranked among the first batch of national "world-class discipline construction universities" and national "2 1 1 engineering" key construction universities.

It was selected as the first batch of universities in China to deepen the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education, and the first batch of doctoral, master's and bachelor's degree awarding units in China. It is the oldest institution of higher learning in northwest China.
