The Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University is a large third-class general hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching and scientific research, with a total area of 470,000 square meters, a building area of 250,000 square meters and 2,850 open beds (900 beds in the surgical building (under construction)). It is the national standardized training base for residents of Sun Yat-sen University on the west bank of the Pearl River Estuary and one of the two national standardized training bases for residents in Zhuhai.
