This major trains senior English professionals who have a solid English language foundation and extensive scientific and cultural knowledge and can engage in translation, research, teaching and management in foreign affairs, economy and trade, culture, press and publication, education, scientific research and tourism.
The English Department has established extensive academic contacts and cooperation projects with universities and scientific research institutions in many English-speaking countries. Every year, excellent senior English students are sent to Southwest University of Missouri for further study.
The main courses are: comprehensive English, reading, listening, oral English, writing, audio-visual, interpretation, translation, British and American culture, introduction to linguistics, British and American literature, introduction to western management (including business English), second foreign language, computer application, etc.
This major has a master's degree authorization point of "Foreign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics".
