In the first academic year, this major implements the through-training of English majors. In the second academic year, through selection and voluntary declaration, students entered English major and translation major respectively for further study. English majors train students to master the basic theories and knowledge of English language, literature, social culture and so on. To cultivate students' listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation abilities, literary appreciation ability, cross-cultural communication ability, critical thinking ability, innovation ability, information technology application ability, autonomous learning and independent work ability, as well as a certain practical application ability of a second foreign language, master basic scientific research methods, and engage in teaching, international communication and translation. Students in this major have many opportunities to go to Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan and participate in exchange study programs overseas. The training quality of students in this major is excellent.
