University of Science and Technology Liaoning, located in Anshan City, Liaoning Province, is one of the earliest metallurgical universities in China. It has been selected into the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program" of the Ministry of Education, the "National New Engineering Research and Practice Project" and the scholarship receiving institution of the China Municipal Government for overseas students in China.
The Hundred Schools Project, the key construction universities of first-class universities in Liaoning Province, the pilot universities of credit system management in Liaoning Province and the pilot schools of transformation and development in Liaoning Province have the right of exemption for graduate students and the National University Science Park. They are multidisciplinary universities focusing on engineering, science, economy, management, literature, law and art.
The school was established in 1948 and Anshan Institute of Technology was established in 1949. 1950 was changed to Anshan Branch of Northeast Institute of Technology, 1958 was upgraded to Anshan Iron and Steel Institute at undergraduate level, 1998 was placed under the Liaoning Provincial Government by the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry, and was jointly established by the central and local governments. Approved by the Ministry of Education, it was renamed Anshan University of Science and Technology in 2002 and Liaoning University of Science and Technology in 2006.
