Hunan University is located in Changsha, a famous historical and cultural city in China. The campus is located at the bank of Xiangjiang River and at the foot of Yuelu Mountain, enjoying the reputation of "a Millennium University and a century-old prestigious school". The school has a long history and excellent educational tradition. It is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education, a national "2 1 1 Project" and "985 Project" key construction university, and a national "world-class university".

Hunan University originated from Yuelu Academy and was founded in 976. After the changes of Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, it has always maintained the continuity of culture, education and teaching. 1903 was transformed into Hunan Higher Education College, and 1926 was named Hunan University. 1937 became one of the national universities of the Ministry of Education of the National Government 16.

After the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC), Li Da, the representative of the first National Congress and educator, was appointed as the first president of Hunan University in New China, and Comrade Mao Zedong wrote the name of the school in his own handwriting. In 2000, Hunan University and Hunan University of Finance and Economics merged to form a new Hunan University.

The school has more than 37,000 full-time students, including more than 20,000 undergraduates and 0/5,000 postgraduates. There are more than 4,000 faculty members, including 2,250 full-time teachers, 2 academicians/KLOC-0, 5 members of the discipline evaluation group of the State Council Academic Degrees Committee, 56 national special talents, 24 winners of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and 20 winners of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars.

Six people won the National Teacher Award for Teaching, the Innovative Talents Promotion Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology 14, and the New Century Outstanding Talents Support Program of the Ministry of Education 134. There are 4 "innovative research groups" of the National Natural Science Foundation, 8 innovation teams of the Ministry of Education, and the National Defense Science, Technology and Industry Bureau 1 innovation team.

The campus covers an area of 2,397,760 square meters, with a building area of 1 446,350 square meters. By June 5438+February 3, 20201,the whole school had 7,569,200 books and 3 Chinese and foreign databases11.

The whole network supports the next generation Internet IPv6, the campus core network realizes 40Gbps bandwidth interconnection, and the campus wired network and wireless network cover all teaching buildings, office buildings and student apartments. Combined with big data, cloud computing, mobile internet and other information technologies, it has realized all-round information teaching, management and service.
