Formerly known as Jiangsu Institute of Education, the College was founded in 1952, which was one of the provincial public undergraduate schools in 17 established earlier in Jiangsu Province after the founding of New China. In 20 13, with the approval of the Ministry of education, the college was transformed from a provincial adult undergraduate school to a provincial ordinary undergraduate school.
