Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, founded in 1956, is one of the first four universities of traditional Chinese medicine in New China. Formerly known as Chengdu College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, 1995 was renamed Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

After 65 years of construction and development, it has become a high-level Chinese medicine university with distinctive characteristics, with Chinese medicine as the main subject and medical and health-related disciplines supporting each other and developing harmoniously. 20 17 was selected as a national "double-first-class" discipline construction university, and in 2020 it will become a university jointly established by Sichuan Provincial People's Government, Ministry of Education and state administration of traditional chinese medicine.

At present, there are 1 national "double-first-class" construction disciplines (Chinese medicine), 4 national key disciplines (Chinese medicine, acupuncture and tuina, five senses of traditional Chinese medicine and gynecology of traditional Chinese medicine), 2 ESI world-class disciplines 1% (pharmacology and toxicology, clinical medicine) and 2 Sichuan "double-first-class" construction disciplines (Chinese medicine and traditional Chinese medicine)
