During the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression period, the society was in turmoil. At that time, the principal, Sabendong, took the lead in cutting back on food and clothing in order to make the students live less hard and have enough food to eat. Some alumni once said that there were free vegetables, a plate of soybeans and free rice every day, which was a great help to the children of those poor families at that time and enabled them to live in this troubled times. We also believe that they will always remember Xiamen University and be grateful forever.
In 2008, the then principal continued to inherit the culture of gratitude and provided students with free rice, mineral water and toilet paper, which I think should be the first in China. Many people didn't understand this behavior at that time, the headmaster said? Give students the best, and they will pursue the best? Only by letting children know what is good can they find ways to change the status quo and become the best after they feel bad. Actually, I quite agree with this view now. This enables many children from poor families to concentrate on their studies like others without worrying about their food. This shows that this is a positive feedback behavior. /
This year, Xiamen University continued to launch the activities of brothers and sisters eating and the elderly paying the bill. Xiamen University Shenzhen Alumni Association is the organizer of this event, and they also promised to pay for Xiamen University's rice and mineral water in the next decade. As you can imagine, this is a huge sum of money, but it also proves how much the way of free food delivery in Xiamen University affects students.
When I was in college, I made students feel the care from the school and seniors. I believe they will also pass on this gratitude and spread this excellent quality to the next generation and society.
