Qingdao University of Science and Technology is a multidisciplinary university with distinctive characteristics, focusing on engineering, science, engineering, literature, economics, management, medicine, law, art and teaching. The school is a national "11plan" project construction unit and a "strong characteristic" high-level university in Shandong Province. By the Ministry of Education, it was rated as "Excellent University in Undergraduate Teaching Evaluation" and "Top 50 Universities in China for Graduates' Employment and Entrepreneurship", and was praised as "Huangpu of china rubber Industry" by the society.

This school has a long history. Its predecessor was Shenyang Higher Vocational School of Light Industry, which was founded in 1950. 1956 moved to Qingdao and changed its name to Qingdao Rubber Industry School. 1958 upgraded to Shandong Institute of Chemical Technology. 1984 was renamed Qingdao Institute of Chemical Technology and Qingdao University of Science and Technology in 2002. Up to now, it has formed a school-running pattern of "five campuses and one base". The school's disciplines are distinctive, with 5 doctoral-level disciplines, 5 postdoctoral research stations, 24 master-level disciplines and 16 master's degree categories.

Historical evolution of the school:

Qingdao University of Science and Technology, formerly known as Qingdao Institute of Chemical Technology, is a university directly under the former Ministry of Chemical Industry. Its predecessor was Shenyang Light Industry Higher Vocational School, which was founded in September 1950. Moved to Qingdao in August, 1956, renamed Qingdao Rubber Industry School. Approved by Shandong Provincial People's Government 1984, it was formally established as Shandong Institute of Chemical Technology and renamed with the approval of the Ministry of Education.

In March 20001,Qingdao arts and crafts school merged, and in March 2002, it was renamed Qingdao University of Science and Technology with the approval of the Ministry of Education. Laoshan Campus was put into use in August 2002, Gaomi Campus was put into use in July 2009, Shandong Institute of Chemical Technology was incorporated in February 20 16, and Sino-German International Cooperation Zone (Sino-German Campus) was put into use in August 20 19. The development of the school has been writing a new chapter.
