Founded on May 4, 2000, Peking University Unnamed BBS is the oldest and largest platform for students' information exchange in Peking University. The unnamed BBS of Peking University was first set up on an S/390 mainframe donated by IBM of Peking University, and was put into test on June 5438+099965438+February 2 1. This machine is the most expensive BBS server in Chinese mainland (worth about $8 million). The founders of Peking University Anonymous Forum are Chen Hao and Ducksmith. Buddesus, xsy, Min, littledrunk, etc.
At present, the unnamed BBS of Peking University is built on a 64-bit x86 server. The software adopts the self-modified Firebird BBS system, mainly written in C language, and the code is compressed to about1.6mb. The access mode supports traditional telnet remote login, and it also provides WWW web browsing. SSH connection was supported on August 18, 2008. The unnamed BBS of Peking University also supports the attachment system and can publish articles with attachments. The attachment server is independent of the main server and connected to the main server through NFS file system. However, the attachment server is more prone to failure than the main server.
Starting from the second half of 2005, the service group of technical station began to test the WWW access mode of PHP technical transformation. PHP dynamic page technology completely replaces the traditional CGI technology of Firebird, which not only expands the function of WWW service, but also greatly improves the service efficiency and access speed.
Policy changes and social impacts
1999, with the support of Peking University Computing Center, the unnamed predecessor of Peking University BBS began to be established and tested.
In 2005, influenced by the chaos of BBS closure, the "superior" of colleges and universities —— China People's and Ministry of Education —— demanded that BBS in colleges and universities in Chinese mainland be "transformed". Since then, Peking University has become an anonymous campus BBS ("intra-school communication platform") similar to the current Shuimu Tsinghua BBS, which restricts the direct access of off-campus IP addresses and terminates the automatic message forwarding function between BBS and others. At the same time, due to the chaotic closure, Unnamed Peking University soon became the BBS site with the largest number of online Peking University students.
The access conditions of anonymous BBS in Peking University have been relaxed, and it is open to IP addresses outside Peking University, but only for non-anonymous users. There are also some off-campus users who know and can anonymously log in to Peking University through the shuttle bus agency service opened privately by individual on-campus users. However, users who "shuttle" login still cannot register a new user name. In the winter vacation of 2008, the VPN service was opened in Peking University Computing Center. Students who are not on campus during the holiday can access the campus network directly with their user names and passwords, and access the anonymous BBS of Peking University through VPN. This access method can obtain the same access rights as campus access.
The unnamed BBS Station Affairs Committee is democratically produced by all the legal users of the station through the selection procedures stipulated in the station regulations, and is responsible to the webmaster (President Peking University) and all users according to the station regulations. Authorized by the webmaster and the school authorities, the Station Affairs Committee is responsible for development planning, technical maintenance and development, user experience and user interface design, user management, layout management, organization and coordination of online and offline activities and foreign exchanges. The unnamed BBS Station Affairs Committee consists of a standing station affairs group (including the director and deputy director), a technical station affairs group, an art station affairs group and a practical station affairs group, and has a district affairs team of nearly 40 people in all stations 16 branches, with thousands of editions of affairs.
In any case, anonymity has not completely disappeared from the outside world. Some news media often collect news clues from anonymous sources, such as the famous Beijing News, and often publish news (especially negative news) based on anonymous articles, but they often take it out of context and do not conduct in-depth investigation and evidence collection, so the behavior of this newspaper has always been criticized by Peking University students.
