The College of Continuing Education of Northwestern Polytechnical University is a school-running institution and centralized management department that implements post-university continuing education and adult higher education. At present, it undertakes multi-level, multi-form and multi-standard education and training tasks such as continuing education, adult higher education, modern distance education, higher education self-study examination, vocational and post training and foreign language learning.

Northwestern Polytechnical University began to carry out post-university continuing education from 1986, which is one of the earliest universities in China. Over the past decade or so, more than 500 short-term training courses, special seminars for senior professional and technical personnel, qualification training courses for leaders of enterprises and institutions, post training courses for middle-level cadres, and high-tech promotion courses have been held, with 30,000 trainees. Two series of training programs, mechatronics and modern design methods, developed by our institute are regarded as the subject guide of the whole industry training by Aviation Industry Corporation. In recent years, facing the 2 1 century, our institute has held advanced seminars such as "modern manufacturing technology", "numerical control technology", "advanced material technology", "modern design method" and "enterprise management", and trained more than 1000 cross-century senior technical talents and senior management talents for various enterprises and institutions.

1988, the continuing education work of our college won the national advanced collective of continuing education.

As early as 1956, adult higher education was held in our school. 1982 since the resumption of adult higher education, 67 teaching stations have been set up in 37 provinces, cities and regions across the country, offering more than 40 undergraduate and specialist majors in machinery, electronics, computer, electricity, construction engineering, materials, management, finance, trade, Chinese and foreign languages. The college has many forms of running a school, such as correspondence, evening university, full-time study and self-examination, and there are many levels of running a school, such as junior college, undergraduate college and junior college. Since 1982, more than 10000 undergraduate and junior college graduates have been trained for the country, among which 1200 undergraduate graduates have obtained bachelor's degrees in engineering. At present, more than 4,000 students are enrolled in various adult higher education. 1992 our college was awarded the title of "advanced unit of adult higher education in ordinary colleges and universities" by the state education commission, and 1996 won the first prize of teaching achievement of Shaanxi provincial education commission.
