Tokyo institute of technology (Tokyo Institute of Technology), referred to as Donggong University for short, is a top Japanese and world-class university of science and engineering, headquartered in Muhei District, Tokyo, focusing on engineering technology and natural science research.

The establishment of tokyo institute of technology can be traced back to the Tokyo Staff School founded in 188 1. In the early Meiji period in Japan, the only industrial education institutions were the Ministry of Industry University (the predecessor of the Ministry of Engineering of Tokyo University) and the Tokyo Workers' School. The former mainly trains instructors in land management related to mining, civil engineering and telecommunications, while Tokyo Vocational School mainly trains instructors in manufacturing, and has set up departments of chemical technology and mechanical technology. 1890 changed its name to tokyo institute of technology. 1923, affected by the Great Kanto Earthquake, the school moved to Okayama, Wuyuan County.

1929 was officially upgraded to the old government university, and four science subjects were added at the same time. 1949 became a new university and developed continuously, and became a national university in 2004. Since its establishment, tokyo institute of technology has continuously trained outstanding engineers, researchers and business people for Japan and the world, such as Hideki Shirakawa, winner of the 2000 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.
