200 1 Peking University Institute of Physics was established on the basis of the original physics department, heavy ion physics research institute, technical physics department, atmospheric physics and meteorology department and astronomy department. 19 13 physics was established in Peking University, and undergraduate education in physics in China began. 19 19 was renamed physics department. During the Anti-Japanese War, the physics departments of Peking University, Tsinghua University and Nankai University merged into The National SouthWest Associated University. 1952 after the adjustment of departments in China, the department of physics in Peking University became the most powerful physical town in China, and successively founded or participated in the establishment of the first major in nuclear science, semiconductor physics, geophysics and microelectronics in China.
Tsinghua University Physics Department is one of the fastest growing and best physics departments in China, which plays an important role in improving Tsinghua University's academic reputation. Physics teachers are engaged in condensed matter physics, atomic and molecular physics and photophysics, high-energy physics, nuclear physics, astrophysics and biophysics.
The Department of Physics has 80 teachers, about 300 graduate students and about 400 undergraduates. Among the teachers, there are 9 academicians of Chinese Academy of Sciences (Wang, Chen Nanxian, Gu, Kuang Yuping, Li Tibei, Fan Shoushan, Xue Qikun), 5 winners of Science and Technology Progress Award of Heli Fund, 2 winners of "Thousand Talents Program", 7 winners of "Yangtze River distinguished professor Project" of Ministry of Education, and 0/0 winner of National Outstanding Youth Fund. The main research institutions of the Department of Physics are the State Key Laboratory of condensed matter physics, high-energy physics and nuclear physics, atomic and molecular physics and photophysics, low-dimensional quantum physics, Astrophysics Center and Foxconn Nanotechnology Center.
The Department of Physics provides excellent research conditions for postgraduates and undergraduates in physics and astronomy, and offers various popular and specialized physics courses.
